Feedstocks

Preprocessing

Preprocessing is the preliminary processing of feedstocks to increase the density of the material while increasing the actual amount of feedstock that can be transported at a time, thus decreasing transportation costs.

The preprocessing group works to determine the best means for increasing the density of biomass and analyzes the effect of various preprocessing models on mechanical and chemical properties of biomass feedstocks.
