Social Policy

SERC’s Social Policy research consists of determining the key social policy issues facing the successful emergence of a bioenergy industry in the southeastern US.

The Social Policy group leverages spatial, statistical, and computing technologies to identify the optimal bioenergy crop "zones" in the southeastern region of the U.S. This is done while simultaneously examining factors reducing access to this potential land, such as metropolitan growth and suburban sprawl which present competing land uses.
