Feedstock and Bio-Oil Characterization and Analysis

Biomass from softwood and hardwood tress has previously been utilized as feestocks for bio-oil production. Agricultural biomass of several types have been tested as pyrolysis feedstocks. We have recently characterized both the biomass and pyrolysis oils produced from several forestry and agricultural feestocks. We will characterize the biomassfrom the agricultural products including gian miscanthus, sorghum sudan grass, cotton gin trash, and wheat straw. Forestry feestock will be compromised of black willow and yellow poplar; clear wood, bark, leaves, and whole-tree feedstocks of the two species will be characterized individually. Bio-oil will be produced from these feedstocks and characterized by chemical and phsyical tests.
