Lignocellulosic Crops

Lignocellulosic plant materials are harvested for their biomass, which is primarily comprised of lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose.  The cellulose derived from lignocellulosic crops can be used for ethanol production.

The lignocellulosic crops group works to identify which lignocellulosic crops can be grown in Mississippi as feedstocks while also developing economical methods to grow these crops.
